BEIJING, March 8 -- China Thursday held a meeting to mark International Women's Day and honor the nation's female role models.
Wang Huning, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, attended the meeting and presented awards at the event, which was hosted by the All-China Women's Federation.
Vice Premier Liu Yandong and the federation's president Shen Yueyue were also present.
The meeting called on women nationwide to follow the leadership of the CPC, contribute to the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects and practice socialist core values.
More than 300 individuals and 200 groups were cited at the meeting.
