BEIJING, Nov. 29 -- China's top political advisor Wang Yang Thursday stressed the importance of studying the recent remarks of Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, on the work of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).
Wang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, made the remarks when addressing the closing meeting of the fourth session of the 13th CPPCC National Committee Standing Committee.
Xi's recent remarks are the fundamental rules for the CPPCC to follow in improving its work in the new era, Wang stressed.
The study should focus on making the CPPCC system more mature and on how it can play a better role as a specialist consultative body, which shall be the new orientation and mission of CPPCC in the new era, Wang said.
Wang called for efforts to thoroughly study the connotation and spirit of Xi's remarks, implement decisions and plans of the CPC Central Committee and its requirements on the work of CPPCC, and pool wisdom of all Chinese for national rejuvenation.
Stating that the CPPCC bears more arduous tasks and greater responsibilities in the new era, Wang requires political advisors to improve their consciousness and abilities to fulfill their duties.
The two-day session also adopted revised general rules of the special committees of the CPPCC National Committee and a revised guideline on the CPPCC National Committee's proposals.
Personnel appointments and removals were also approved at the meeting.
