BEIJING, Sept. 16 -- Representatives of incumbent and retired national political advisors gathered in Beijing Monday to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).
They reviewed the history of the political advisory body over the past seven decades during the meeting, which was also part of the CPPCC's activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
At the meeting, Wang Yang, chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, spoke highly of the political advisors' patriotic, diligent and dedicated spirit and expressed full recognition of their contributions to the CPPCC's development.
Noting that the CPPCC enjoys an even broader stage in the new era, Wang called on the incumbent and retired political advisors to play stronger roles in building consensus.
Representatives of the members of the current and previous terms of the CPPCC National Committee gave speeches at the meeting.
