BEIJNG, Sept. 7 -- Chinese political advisors met on Friday to discuss efforts to build a traceability system for farm produce quality and safety.
The consultation session for key proposals held by the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), China's top political advisory body, was presided over by Wang Yang, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the CPPCC National Committee.
Wang stressed the importance of farm produce and food safety, and called for efforts to steadily realize traceability management for the whole farm-to-table process of farm produce.
A total of 12 institutions and political advisors at the session put forward their suggestions, while more than 60 political advisors voiced their opinions via a mobile platform.
They noted that building a traceability system for farm produce quality and safety, as a major institutional innovation, should see steady advancement in line with national conditions.
Their suggestions included revising farm produce safety law, promoting the traceability system for prioritized entities, raising subsidies for traceability equipment and facilities as well as information collection.
They also called for enhancement in supervision via modern technologies including big data and block chains, and to build an open and sharing information platform for traceability management.
