DHAKA, Aug. 15 -- A major fire gutted a plastic factory in the old part of Bangladesh capital Dhaka on late Wednesday night, no casualty has been reported yet.
The fire broke out in a single-storey tin-shed house in old Dhaka's Lalbagh Posta area at round 11:00 p.m. local time on Wednesday night.
"Sixteen units of fire tenders rushed to the spot and doused the blaze at around 1:00 a.m.," said Babul Miah, officer at the Department of Fire Service and Civil Defence.
Miah said the cause of the fire and the extent of damage to the factory could not be ascertained immediately.
"The workers of the factory were on leave on occasion of the largest Muslim religious festival Eid al-Adha celebrated here on Aug. 12," he said.
