国际英语资讯:Many ways of cooperation with China exist, says Paris 2024 head

PARIS, Feb. 21 -- Paris 2024 President Tony Estanguet told Xinhua here on Thursday that there are many ways of cooperation between China and France, respective hosts of the 2022 Winter Olympics and 2024 Summer Olympics.

"There are plenty of ways to work with China, because we are on the same theme," said Estanguet after a press conference unveiling the proposal of four additional sports into the Games by organizers.

"We want to promote Olympism and organize the best Games. I'm sure that the strong connection between China and France will help the Olympic movement to be stronger," he added.

Estanguet, three-time Olympic champion in canoeing, also shed light on his moment during the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

"China is a very special country in the history of the Olympics. I was an athlete in Beijing 2008, and would remember forever the opening ceremony and experience that I could leave in the Games," he recalled, adding that "we know that the Games in Beijing for 2022 will be also exceptional."

"We are delighted to be there and leave the experience. Being the next edition (of Olympics) after Beijing, we really have the possibility of being another level of China in terms of organization," Estanguet pointed out.

Paris 2024 has proposed the inclusion of breakdancing, skateboarding, sport climbing and surfing at the Games, pending for validation by the International Olympic Committee.
