WINDHOEK, June 7 -- Namibian boxer, Mika Shonena will trade leather with China's Dong Youli in a World Boxing Organization international fight slated for Aug. 24 at Ongwediva in northern Namibia.
Namibia's MTC Sunshine Boxing Academy promoter Nestor Tobias confirmed that the fight will be the main fight on 'The Battle: Namibia v China' bill, which will be part of the Ongwediva Trade Fair program.
Twenty-four-year-old Dong is the current WBO Asia Pacific Youth welterweight champion who has 13 wins, one draw and one defeat under his belt, while the 31-year-old Shonena, who is still undefeated after 14 professional fights, is the WBO Africa welterweight champion.
"The aim is to get a better rating for the boxers, so they are not fighting for a title, although the loser will lose his title, while the winner will keep his title, and gets a better rating," Tobias added.
