WASHINGTON, April 30 -- Two people were killed and at least four others were injured in a shooting on Tuesday on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, U.S. state of North Carolina, the authorities said.
The two deceased were pronounced dead at the scene, said the authorities. Two people have been treated for life-threatening injuries while two others have been treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
A suspect has been taken into custody and the campus is on lockdown. according to local media reports. The police didn't say if there were any other suspects.
The university tweeted earlier that shots were reported near its Kennedy Building.
"Run, Hide, Fight. Secure yourself immediately," the university's Emergency Management tweeted.
A concert was scheduled to be held at the university's football stadium Tuesday night.
