ASUNCION, May 10 -- Paraguay and Honduras will meet in an international friendly next month as both teams finalize their preparations for respective continental tournaments, the Paraguayan Football Association (APF) said on Friday.
The match will be played in the Paraguayan city of Ciudad del Este on June 5, 11 days before Paraguay's opening Copa America group match against Qatar.
Honduras will use the friendly to warm up for the CONCACAF Gold Cup, to be jointly held in the US, Costa Rica and Jamaica from June 15 to July 7.
The APF also said in a statement that Paraguay's head coach, Eduardo Berizzo, would name a preliminary 40-man squad for the Copa America on Monday. The list will be trimmed to 23 players by the end of May.
The Copa America will be played in Brazil from June 14 to July 7. In addition to Qatar, Paraguay will meet Colombia and Argentina in the group stage.
