BUJUMBURA, Jan. 17 -- Burundi will request an extraordinary summit on the relations with neighboring country Rwanda during the upcoming 20th East African Community heads of state summit in Tanzania, a Burundian president spokesman said Thursday.
The purpose of the extraordinary summit is to discuss "the aggression of Rwanda against Burundi in violation of international laws," Jean Claude Karerwa told Xinhua.
According to him, the heads of state summit is scheduled on Feb. 1 in Arusha.
The relations between Burundi and Rwanda have deteriorated after Burundi accused Rwanda of hosting and supporting perpetrators of the 2017 coup plot against President Pierre Nkurunziza.
