KUNMING, Oct. 18 -- The 2018 X-Mudder final will kick off in Qiubei County in Wenshan prefecture, in China's Yunnan province on October 27.
"More than 3500 participants have registered. The official registration will close at the end of this week," the organizing committee spokesman said here on Thursday.
The participants are expected to compete in three different races: the ultimate, the classic and parent-child events. The ultimate is the most difficult event.
Along the 25-kilometer route, 40 obstacle challenges will be set up, including the highly popular "Golan Heights", which will test participants both in terms of power and teamwork, and the "Pass Through Live Wire" where people will literally crawl through mud beneath wires.
Founded in 2017, the X-Mudder event originated from military-style obstacle courses and has become more and more popular in China. It focuses on promoting courage, endurance, muscle strength, teamwork and personal accomplishment.
