NANNING, Oct. 5 -- Police in southern China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region seized 1.46 tonnes of drugs in the first eight months of the year.
The region's public security bureau said local police cracked 4,585 drug cases and seized 33 tonnes of drug production materials in the January-August period.
In the tough crackdown on drugs, local police also uncovered about 34,000 drug users and placed 14,000 drug users in rehabilitation centers, it said.
The bureau ordered local police authorities to beef up crackdown on drug production and smuggling and step up efforts to help more drug users overcome drug addiction.
