Feifei, you've travelled the world but have you ever been to la-la land?

Feifei

你说的美国洛杉矶吗？Los Angeles – the city of angels. It's an amazing place, full of film stars!

Rob

Sounds great and you're very clever – la-la land is the informal name for Los Angeles.

Feifei

美国加州洛杉矶市 Los Angeles 的别名就是“la-la land 梦幻之都”。

Rob

Ah but there is another la-la land.

Feifei

Where is this other la-la land?

Rob

It's usually in someone's head! Like our boss – he wants me to write all these scripts, edit them and make him a cup of tea – all by the end of the day. He is living in la-la land!

Feifei

咱们老板住在 la-la land？他明明住在伦敦。你是什么意思？

Rob

Well Feifei, if someone is living in la-la land it can also mean that they are in a fantasy world where they believe impossible things might happen – they are not being realistic.

Feifei

说某人住在 la-la land 的意思是“此人生活在空想国，想法不现实，不切实际”。

Someone in la-la land doesn't understand how things really are – take a listen to these examples.
