AMMAN, March 15 (Xinhua) -- The World Food Program (WFP) on Wednesday welcomed China's support worth 1.5 million U.S. dollars to help support Syrian refugees in Jordan.
The Chinese aid will help provide necessary food items for the vulnerable Syrian refugees in Azraq and Zaatari camps, which housed around 115,000 Syrian refugees, the WFP said in a statement.
The aid will also be used to provide healthy meals for Syrian children at school in Zaatari camp.
More than 12,000 Syrian students at the camp will benefit from the support project, implemented in cooperation with Ministry of Education in Jordan, said Majeed Yehya, the WFP regional director.
"We highly value China's support and contribution to the needy Syrians," he said, adding that they are seeking further cooperation with China in this regard.
Around 4,000 Syrian refugees moved from cities to refugee camps after being unable to afford living outside the camps, Yehya said.
