Former world No. 1 tennis player Boris Becker of Germany talked to reporters during the Mission Hills Celebrity Pro-Am Golf Tournament.
Question: Mr. Becker you are an amazing tennis player as well as a gifted golfer. Do you think both of these talents will help you to compete against Yao Ming and Allen Iverson on the golf course?
Boris Becker: First of all, the three of us are good competitors. So any sport we choose, we like to win. I think golf is a more even playing field because none of us are professionals. For me, with tennis, I have the hand eye coordination that comes in handy for my golf drive which is an advantage. On the other hand, in tennis the ball is moving the whole time and when you have too much time to golf for you think too much. That' s the problem.
Question: You have been a very successful tennis player, golfer and tennis coach, of all of these which one do you feel is the most challenging?
Boris Becker: Everything has its time. In my 20s my game was playing tennis. In my 30s my game was playing golf. And in my 40s my game is coaching tennis. So, everything has its time.
Question: What are your thoughts on the island of Hainan and Mission Hills Haikou?
Boris Becker: We just opened the first Boris Becker Tennis Academy in Mission Hills Shenzhen in March. Which I am very excited about and can't wait to come back many more times.
