Real Madrid have lost the services of German midfielder Sami Khedira for the next two weeks as the result of a torn muscle in his left thigh.
Khedira suffered the injury in his side's 1-1 draw away to Olympic Lyon in the first leg of their last 16 clash in the Champions League on Wednesday night. He was forced to leave the pitch after 67 minutes and was replaced by Lassana Diarra.
The club carried out tests on the 23-year-old on returning to Madrid this Thursday morning in which the extent of the injury was confirmed.
Khedira will now miss Madrid's next three games in the BBVA Primera Liga, which see them travel to play Deportivo la Coruna and Racing Santander and receive the visit of bottom of the table Malaga.
If his recovery goes to plan, Khedira should have no problems in recovering for the return leg against Lyon, which will be in Madrid's Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in three weeks.
The German joined Real Madrid from Stuttgart last summer and has been a fixture in the plans of Madrid coach, Jose Mourinho since arriving and has appeared in 21 of his side's 24 BBVA Primera Ligga matches to date.
