French Ligue 1 soccer club Bordeaux said Tuesday they fired Nigerian striker Moussa Maazou on his hostile remarks to the club and its supporters.
Local daily Le Parisien said the Nigerian striker on loan in Bordeaux was excluded from the team squad after he declared his indifference with supports' critics.
Joining Bordeaux team since the start of the season, the 23- year-old striker told media: "I am tranquil. I have my contract with Moscow. It's playing the European Cup."
His remarks fuelled supporters' anger already complaining his weak performance.
"He eliminated himself and we shouldn't see him wearing again the jersey of the Girondins," Jean-Louis Triaud, the club's president was quoted as saying.
Bordeaux ranked the tenth in the French top soccer division standings, 11 points behind the pace-setters Lille.
