Gremio beat Avai 3-0 at home in the 23rd round of the Brazilian Championship on Sunday, recording their second-consecutive victory.
Gremio's first goal came in the 35th minute. Dribbling past two defenders, Jonas reached back and fired a ball into the back of the Avai goal. Keeper Renan was unable to react to the ball, watching as it sailed into the goal.
The hosts following goals came in the second half. In the 64th minute, Douglas crossed the ball, finding Andre Lima to head the ball into the goal. In the 72nd minute, Douglas rolled the ball to Jonas who then angled the ball past Renan.
Gremio improved two positions, landing in 11th place with 29 points. In the 24th round, the team will host Atletico-GO on Wednesday.
Avai dropped to 16th place with 25 points and will travel to face Vitoria on Thursday.
