In yet another disappointing defeat, Atletico-MG lost to Vitoria 3-2 on Sunday in the 23rd round of the Brazilian Championship.
After the match, star striker Diego Tardelli accused some of his teammates of lacking will to play and win.
Luxemburgo responded to Tardelli's statements by declaring that the strike was "hot headed" after the match. The coach proceeded to take the blame for the loss which was their seventh loss over the last twelve games.
The coach added that the club wins and losses as a team and that no one is responsible for a loss. Luxemburgo said that if the offense is unable to score, then the fault should not be placed solely on the defense.
In order to rediscover their focus, the entire team collectively decided to stay inside of the compounds of the team's headquarters for two weeks, leaving family members and friends behind.
The team currently remains among the league's worst, sitting in 17th place with 20 points. Unless the team is able to finish this year's tournament in 16th place or better, the club will be relegated to the second division next season.
