Portuguese midfielder Thiago has finally completed his return to Atletico Madrid.
Atletico and Juventus have reached an agreement for Thiago to play on loan at the Vicente Calderon Stadium for the 2010-2011 season.
The agreement sees Atletico pay around 650,000 dollars for the loan, while agreeing to pay the full weight of the 29-year-old's wages.
The agreement ends an age that has dragged on since the end of last season. Thiago spent the second half of last season on loan at Atletico and was a key factor in the club's improved form, which lifted them from hovering just above the relegation zone into a comfortable mid-table position.
Although he was unable to play in the club's successful Europa League campaign, he also played a role in Atletico reaching the final of the Spanish Copa del Rey, which they lost to Sevilla.
His impressive performances at the Calderon saw Atletico look to seal a permanent deal, but although negotiations over a sale floundered with Italian side Juventus, they have finally led to this loan deal.
"It look a bit longer than expected, but it has all worked out well in the end. I wanted to be here and here I am. I may have arrived late, but I am looking forward to getting started," said Thiago, who admitted he was short of form to play in next week's European Supercup against Chempions League winner Inter Milan.
