During his abscondence, the overburdened wise man Lin Hui cast away his invaluable1 jade2 passed from his ancestors and chose to advance with his newly born son.
The others said, "It is not to your profit to have discarded the precious jade instead of the child because the child is heavier and larger than the jade. So why did you do that?" Lin Hui responded, "The child is my son and to me is more valuable than the jade."
贤人林回在逃亡途中,因不堪重负,扔掉了价值千金的家传玉璧,背着自己刚刚出生的儿子,继续逃难。
旁人劝说道:“为这刚出生的小孩子放弃千金的玉璧,划算吗?您要是怕累赘,小孩子无论是体积还是重量,都比玉璧大得多。真是不能理解您为什么要这样做?” 林回说:“孩子是我的亲骨肉,相比之下,还是骨肉比玉璧值钱。”
