1.monopoly a.垄断(exclusive possession or control);专利权(patent)

词根记忆:mono(单个)+poly(运用)--仅让单个用垄断

例:In the United States, the Postal Service has a monopoly on first-class mail.

2.monsoon n.季风(a periodic wind);雨季(rainy season)

例:The rains in most parts of Sri Lanka are concentrated in the monsoon months, June to September.

3.monumental a.极大的( massive, impressively large);纪念碑的(built as a monument)
