园艺达人不可不知的口语表达

　　说到园艺， 英文里back garden 指的是后花园，通常会有草坪、鲜花，有时还会再辟出种菜或果树的地方。在欧美，很多人会为自己的花园花不少的钱，小小的花园里会种上各种花草和灌木。在英国，窗台边会装上放球茎或其他植物的窗台花箱(window box)， 正门周围的墙上也会挂上花篮。 有些家庭的后院很小，被称作patio。

　　Green thumb 表示某些人非常擅长种花、种菜，有特殊的园艺才能。

　　a green-thumbed gardener 指的就是园艺高手，再例如：Thanks to my mothers green thumb, we usually had vegetables fresh from the garden. (多亏了妈妈擅长种植，我们总能从花园里摘到信息的蔬菜。)

　　water 作动词时，表示浇水。

　　We need to water the lawn.

　　我们要给草坪浇浇水。

　　pull weeds 拔草

　　We pulled weeds from the garden.

　　我们在花园里拔草。

　　mow the lawn 修剪草坪

　　My mother asked me to mow the lawn.

　　妈妈让我去修剪草坪

　　pick 采摘

　　Our grapes are picked by hand.
