中学生奥运会英语词汇：Horizontal Bar 单杠

　　单杠(Horizontal Bar)起源于德国。18世纪末西欧国家的杂技表演出现抓住钢丝做大回环的动作，受此启发，1811年德国体操家扬在柏林郊外的哈森海德体操场用一根木杠代替杂技演出的钢丝，首次安装了世界上的第一副单杠。1812年将木杠改为铁制，后又改为钢制，杠的弹性和承受力增大。19世纪20年代成为独立的比赛项目。杠长2.4米，直径2.8厘米，高2.55～2.75米。横杠两端分别固定在支柱上。1896年被列为奥运会比赛项目。
