　　most green plants can make their own food. to do this, they also need sunlight, air, and water.

　　but a mushroom is a plant that cannot make its own food. mushrooms belong to a group of plants called fujin. fujin have no green coloring. they must get their food from other living or dead plants.

　　some mushrooms grow out of the ground. they take their food from the earth. some mushrooms grow on living trees and take their food from the tree bark. other mushrooms grow on dead trees. they get their food from wool of the trees.
