　　As the 21st century continues to unfold， many technologies have arisen， many of which were previously out of the reach of peoples comprehension. Some people are content with the current standard of living and tend to own it to the technical advances whereas an opposing viewpoint is that not all these changes are positive. As a matter fact， few would disagree that the use of scientific progress has its downside yet the upside of it should be better appreciated.

　　Technology optimists might argue that the employment of technology and science has positive effects on the society and our daily life. The most obvious benefit technologies have brought to us is that it saves numerous amount of time. In the case of making a pair of shoes， almost 70% of manufacturing time could be reduced if it were mass-produced according to some researching findings. Companies could also take advantage of the latest science breakthroughs in the production process， such as installing an assembly line， in order to maximize the production capacity. Meanwhile， the efficiency in study， which is of great advantage to students， may also be guaranteed with the help from computer technology， online information and tele-education. Furthermore， compared to making a pair of tailor-made shoes， a pair of mass-produced Nike sneaker is more cost-effective for the fact that machine saves labor cost greatly. Therefore， it is undoubted that advanced science technologies are of great benefits.

　　Unfortunately， many science outputs have put people at great disadvantages. For those who study online through computers， especially those who are lack of self-control， they often feel isolated and being cut off from the outside world， resulting in a tendency of being more introverted， self-centered and withdrawn. Moreover， some health problems， such as obesity， diabetes and stroke are attributed to the increasingly involvement of technology in food production. It is not uncommon that people， especially children， overtake the fast food and get fatter and clumsy. So it is apparent that the dark side of the technology is inevitable.

　　As what has been mentioned above， although the utilization of modern science may exert many adverse effects to the users， especially young students and the physiological defect is also unavoidable， the scientific progress could be of great advantages in the workplace or to the adults in the workforce， which enhances peoples daily life. As far as I am concerned， I would say that its benefits generally outweigh the demerits in most cases. It seems to be a fact whenever a new technology arises， there must be some problems as well as some strength. The key point is that we should foster the benefits and lessen the weakness.
