When I first heard that the best-selling novel by Christopher Paolini was being made into a movie, I was less than excited. As a fantasy reader, I had read Eragon and became interested in the mystical land of Alagaesia. Why, then, did the thought of the movie Eragon displease me? The answer was quite simple: There is too much story to cover. It is nearly impossible to cram(塞入)all the information from the book into a two-hour film; the book itself is over 500 pages.
Even though my expectations were low, I still hurried to see one of my favorite books transformed into a movie. While I was watching it, an unexpected thought came to me: it’s not that bad.
Maybe it’s just because I wasn’t expecting much, but walking out of that theatre I felt that it had been worth every penny. Eragon isn’t without its flaws(瑕疵), however. There are a few things here and there that I would change. The pace seems a bit fast, but other than that and a few plot changes, the film is quite good.
If you, however, have read the book and headed to the theatre carrying your copy of Eragon, expecting to read the scenes from the book as they happen on the screen, let’s just say you won’t be reading much. Many scenes are cut or changed, but if you have read the book, don’t be disheartened, the movie has its own style and I still enjoyed it.
The landscape is beautiful and the flying scenes are impressive. The acting is well done and the battle scenes are extraordinary. I most definitely recommend this film, whether you have read the book or not.

A. will make the novel more popular
B. will make the sale of the novel difficult
C. is better than the novel
D. would not include all the information of the
novel
18. After watching the film, the author thought it was ________.
A. worth seeing though it’s not perfect
B. bad though some scenes are interesting
C. unnecessary to make some great changes to the
original novel
D. unnecessary to watch if you have read the book
19. Which of the following is NOT true according to this passage?
A. The novel is well written.
B. There are battle scenes in the movie.
C. The movie has no special style.
D. The novel is popular with readers.
20. From the passage, we can infer that ______.
A. audiences should read original novels before watching movies
B. movies needn’t include all the information of the original novels
C. the movie can’t be changed from the long novel
D. a good movie should have flying scenes and beautiful landscape

Growing up in Philadelphia, Lie berman started cooking with his stay-at-home dad when he was seven. His food-loving family had two kitchens, and he quickly learned what was the best way to bake his cakes. Lieberman improved his kitchen skills greatly during a year abroad before college, learning from a cook in Italy and studying local specialities(地方特色菜) in Germany, Spain and France. At Yale, he was known for throwing dinner parties, single-handedly frying and baking while mixing drinks for dozens of friends. Just for fun, he and some friends decided to tape a show named Campus Cuisine about his cooking. Lieberman was a real college student showing his classmates how to do things like making drinks out of dining-hall fruit. That helped the show become very popular among the students. They would stop Lieberman after classes to ask for his advice on cooking. Tapes of the show were passed around, with which his name went beyond the school and finally to the Food Network.
Food Network producer Flay hopes the young cook will find a place on the network television. He says Lieberman’s charisma is key. “Food TV isn’t about food anymore, says Flay. “It’s about your personality and finding a way to keep people’s eyeballs on your show.
But Lieberman isn’t putting all his eggs in one basket. After taping the first season of the new show, Lieberman was back in his own small kitchen preparing sandwiches.
