龙年习语之“long”/“fire”篇

　　龙腾瑞气，燕舞春风，又是一年佳节到。在龙年春节，举国欢庆的节日里，在和亲人、朋友团聚之余，也别忘了顺便学习和了解一些关于“龙的传统习俗，以及与“龙有关的短语和词汇，提升你的英语水平。今天我们要学习的几个习惯用语中包含了“long(“龙字的拼音)和“fire这两个单词。

　　2. have a long face 拉长脸，看上去沮丧

　　4. a list as long as your arm 非常长的单子

　　She wrote out a shopping list as long as her arm.

　　5. a baptism of fire 非常艰难的第一次经历

　　Her first day in the job was a real baptism of fire because she had to deal with a very difficult case immediately.

　　从事这项工作的第一天她就经受了一场严峻的考验，因为她得立即处理一件非常棘手的事情。

　　6. get on like a house on fire 一见如故

　　We got on like a house on fire.

　　我们一见如故。

　　7. hold fire 拖延做出决定、拖延做某事、停火、停止射击

　　Follow orders and hold your fire.

　　听从命令并停止行动。

　　8. not set the world on fire 不成功、不激动人心

　　She does the job adequately but she's not going to set the world on fire!

　　她工作做得不错，但也不会有什么惊人之举!
