英国前首相布莱尔：英国力争成为中国在西方最好的伙伴

习近平主席即将对英国进行国事访问之际，英国前首相布莱尔14日在伦敦接受新华社记者采访时表示，英方期待与中方深化两国关系。

Britain intends to become the best western partner of China and is helping build the relationship between China and the West as a whole, Britain's former Prime Minister Tony Blair has said.

英国前首相布莱尔表示，英国想要成为中国在西方最好的伙伴，并将协助构建中国与西方的关系。

谈到国家主席习近平即将访英时，布莱尔表示，习主席此访将进一步增进两国在政治(at the political level)、经济(at the economic level)和人文层面(at the people-to-people level)的联系，给两国带来更多合作共赢的机遇。

布莱尔说，英中关系的重要性已经赢得英国朝野(the political spectrum in the UK)的一致认同。“我在担任首相期间加强了与中国的伙伴关系，现任首相卡梅伦正在进一步加强与中国的关系(strengthening the partnership with China still further)，这说明英国政界不同政治派别在发展对华关系上拥有共识，都认为英中关系非常重要。

布莱尔希望两国未来深化在基础设施和金融领域的合作(in areas of infrastructure and finance)。他说，英国亟须更新本国的基础设施。在核电(nuclear power)、铁路网(rail network)建设等领域，中国拥有可以协助英国发展基础设施的专长和资金(expertise and capital)，这种合作对两国是双赢(win-win)的局面。

他表示，两国在金融领域(financial sector)合作机遇巨大，中国可以借助伦敦国际金融中心(international financial center)平台助推人民币国际化，在英国发行人民币政府债券(Chinese government bonds)，确保两国在金融层面开展切实合作。

谈到中欧关系(EU-China relations)，他说，英国是欧洲重要国家，已与中国建立起良好的伙伴关系(good relationship with China)，可以起到助推中欧关系整体发展的作用(facilitating the Chinese relationship with Europe)。

谈到中国今后的发展前景，布莱尔认为，中国国家规模庞大、发展速度很快(rapid pace of its progress)，发展中不可避免地会遇到一些挑战。

"But I think the Chinese leadership has got the strength and determination and the capability of overcoming these challenges," he concluded.

“但我认为，中国领导层有决心也有能力战胜所遇到的挑战。
