The "onshore" renminbi closed 1 per cent weaker at 6.3858 per US dollar on Wednesday, buthad been down by nearly 2 per cent until authorities stepped in late in the session and proppedup the currency.

周三，中国“在岸人民币收跌1%，跌至1美元兑6.3858元人民币。不过，收盘前的该交易日晚些时候当局出手支撑人民币汇率时，在岸人民币汇率曾一度下跌近2%。

In morning trade, the "offshore" renminbi weakened 1.2 per cent to as much as Rmb6.5111 perdollar immediately after the release of the PBoC's fix.

在早盘交易时，就在中国央行公布人民币汇率中间价之后，“离岸人民币随即下跌1.2%，跌至1美元兑6.5111元人民币。
