A: Bob is such a lame duck at work. He never makes any decisions.
B: He is a bit of a nothing – maybe he should get assertive and stand up for himself.

A: Bob工作的时候真不中用，什么决定也不敢做。
B: 他简直是个废物。也许他应该果断点，坚持自己的想法才对。

A: I’m trying to get Zoe to notice me, but she doesn’t seem to know I exist.
B: You are just a big zero in her eyes. Why don’t you do something eye-catching, like color your hair green?

B: 你在她眼里什么都不是。干吗不做些抢眼的事情？比如，把你的头发染成绿色。

【语言点精讲】

lame duck: 形容人没有骨气或没有毅力和胆量去做某事。也用来讽刺某人不想做整个团体中其他人都做的事情。
a nothing: 用来形容某人或某事在其他人眼中评价极差、认可度极低。
assertive: 武断的，过分自信的。
stand up for oneself: 捍卫自己。
a big zero: 用来形容某人没有身份、地位或名望。也用来形容某人的素质素养极低。
notice: 注意。
color: 用作动词，把……染上颜色。
