A: James is sure a wet blanket. He had to point out that people don’t laugh at my jokes anymore.
B: He’s right. It’s not you, but people don’t go for the same jokes any longer. And your comedy routine has become old hat.
A: Yes, it feels like I’m singing the same old song every time. I need a change.
B: Yes, well that song is enough to put someone to sleep.

A: James真是个让人扫兴的人，就算我的笑话一点也不逗乐，他也不一定非得说出来呀。
B: 他这样做没有什么不对，谁能总听同样的笑话。你那套搞笑的保留节目太过时了。
A: 我有感觉我好像总是在老生常谈，看来我也该改变一下了。
B: 是呀，那些话是够让人发困的了。

【语言点精讲】

wet blanket: 给别人泼冷水的人，扫兴的人。通常不用来形容自己。
point out: 指出。
go for: 选择，宁要。
routine: 经常表演的固定节目。
old hat: 老式的，陈旧的，过时的。
sing the same old song: 形容某事经常被重复，以至于无聊。
enough to put someone to sleep: 形容某事极其无聊，足以使人入睡。
