远古时代的人类已经有了发达的头脑，于是他们聚在一起商量建造一座通天的巴别塔。上帝知道后大为恐慌，恐怕塔果真建成后人类将窥见天堂的秘密。于是他伸出巨大手摧毁了建造了一半的巴别塔，又使人们讲着不同的语言，指手画脚却仍沟通不了意思。于是工程荒废了。上帝深知，共同的语言能把人类集结成一股强大的力量，因此必须造成语言障碍，才能保证自己的地位。
