敬畏生命

那是一个夏天的长得不能再长的下午，在印第安那州的一个湖边。我起先是不经意地坐着看书，忽然发现湖边有几棵树正飘散入湖水里。我当时没有十分注意，只当是偶然风起所带来的。

It was a summer afternoon by a lake in Indiana. At first, I sat reading a Book casually, and suddenly found several trees floating into the lake. I didn't pay much attention to it at that time, only because of the occasional wind.

可是，渐渐地，我发现情况简直令人吃惊。好几个小时过去了，那些树仍旧浑然不觉地，在飘送那些小型的云朵，倒好像是一座无限的云库似的。整个下午，整个晚上，漫天都是那种东西。第二天情形完全一样，我感到诧异和震撼。

Gradually, however, I found that the situation was astonishing. After several hours, the trees were still carrying the small clouds unconsciously, as if they were an infinite cloud bank. All afternoon, all night, all over the place. The next day it was exactly the same. I was surprised and shocked.

其实，小学的时候就知道有一类种子是靠风力吹动纤维播送的。但也只是知道一道测验题的答案而已。那几天真的看到了，满心所感到的是一种折服，一种无以名状的敬畏。我几乎是一次遇见生命——虽然是植物的。

In fact, when I was in primary school, I knew that there was a kind of seed that was transmitted by wind blowing fibers. But only know the answer to a test. Those days saw, full of feeling is a kind of surrendering, a kind of nameless awe. I met life almost once - though it was plant.

我感到那云状的种子在我心底强烈地碰撞上什么东西，我不能不被生命豪华的、奢侈的、不计成本的投资所感动。也许在不分昼夜的飘散之余，只有一颗种子足以成树，但造物者乐于做这样惊心动魄的壮举。

I feel that the cloud seeds collide with something in my heart. I can't help but be moved by the luxurious, luxurious and cost free investment of life. Maybe there is only one seed enough to make a tree when it is floating around day and night, but the creator is willing to do such a breathtaking feat.

我至今仍然在沉思之际想起那一片柔媚的湖水，不知湖畔那群种子中有哪一颗成了小树，至少，我知道有一颗已经成长。那颗种子曾遇见了一片土地，在一个过客的心之峡谷里，蔚然成阴，教会她怎样敬畏生命。

I still think of the soft Lake in my meditation. I don't know which of the seeds by the lake has become a small tree. At least, I know that one has grown. That seed once met a piece of land, in the valley of a passer-by's heart, it became Yin and taught her how to fear life.
