国内英语资讯:China mulls including high-quality sports industry development in new five-year plan

BEIJING, Nov. 29 -- Chinese authorities will push for the inclusion of high-quality sports industry development into the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025).

The country will focus on programs like national fitness and outdoor sports when planning for the high-quality development of the sports industry, according to a Friday teleconference attended by the General Administration of Sport, the National Development and Reform Commission, and other departments.

The meeting also stressed upgrading public stadiums and establishing a sports industry investment fund.

China has pledged to be a leading sporting power and turn the industry into one of the pillars of the national economy, according to documents released earlier this year.
