BEIJING, Aug. 19 -- Chinese President Xi Jinping on Saturday sent a congratulatory letter to the research team on its latest expedition to the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.

Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, said that scientists, students and support staff should focus on problems related to carrying capacity of the resources and the environment, disaster risk as well as green development on the plateau.
