美朝领导人会晤将于6月12日在新加坡举行

美国总统特朗普10日宣布，他与朝鲜最高领导人金正恩的会晤将于6月12日在新加坡举行。

特朗普当天早上通过社交媒体推特宣布了这一消息。

他写道：

"The highly anticipated meeting between Kim Jong Un and myself will take place in Singapore on June 12th. We will both try to make it a very special moment for World Peace!"

我与金正恩之间备受期待的会晤将于6月12日在新加坡举行。我们将努力让此次会晤成为世界和平的特殊时刻！

随后，新加坡外交部发文证实：

Singapore is pleased to host the meeting between the two leaders on June 12, said the ministry in a statement, adding, "we hope this meeting will advance prospects for peace in the Korean Peninsula."

新加坡欢迎两位领导人于6月12日的会晤。希望这次会晤能推进朝鲜半岛和平前景。

为什么选新加坡？

之所以青睐新加坡，是因为它的中立性（neutrality）优于其他更接近朝鲜首都平壤的地点。

Singapore is seen as a safe alternative. The island nation, a financial hub with a population of 5.6 million, has long been seen as a gateway between east and west. It is favoured by US officials because of its security, infrastructure and proven record of hosting international summits.

新加坡被视为一个安全的选择。新加坡人口560万，是金融中心，一直都是东西方交流的门户。美国官员青睐新加坡是因为其安全性、基础设施以及此前主办国际峰会的成功经验。

It is a US ally but hosts a North Korean embassy and has a long history of cooperation with Pyongyang.
