美议员：烧掉中国产的美国奥运代表团队服

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid was unambiguous in his response when asked about an ABC World News report that the U.S. Olympic team's opening ceremony uniforms were made in China rather than by American textile workers.

美国广播公司(ABC)的“世界资讯(World News)节目报道说，美国奥运代表团在伦敦奥运会开幕式上穿的队服产自中国，而非美国纺织工人生产的。当有人问美国参议院多数党领袖里德(Harry Reid)对此有何感想时，他做出了明确的回答。

The uniforms, designed by Ralph Lauren, have 'made in China' labels on them, the ABC report said.

美国广播公司的报道说，美国代表团的队服是由拉尔夫?劳伦公司(Ralph Lauren)设计，衣服上有“中国制造的标签。

Mr. Reid said he thought 'they should take all the outfits, put them in a big pile and burn them and start all over.'

里德说，他认为他们应该收回全部的队服，将其堆做一堆，付之一炬，然后从头到脚换新的。

Not satisfied, the Democratic leader then had a suggestion for what revised uniforms should look like: 'If they have to wear nothing but a singlet saying USA on it painted by hand, that's what they should do.' (See video of this remarks.)

Of course the source of Mr. Reid's anger was the apparent decision by the U.S. Olympic Committee to order uniforms made in China rather than by workers in America's struggling textiles industry.

当然令里德生气的原因是美国奥委会决定订购中国生产的队服，而不是由美国陷入困境的纺织业工人生产的服装。

A spokeswoman for Ralph Lauren wasn't immediately available for comment.

Adam Jentleson, a spokesman for Mr. Reid, said on Twitter that the suit the lawmaker was sporting on Thursday was in fact made in the USA.
