国际英语资讯:Small political party withdraws from Moroccan govt

RABAT, Oct. 2 -- The Party of Progress and Socialism (PPS), a small Moroccan left-wing political party, announced on Wednesday the intention to withdraw from the government.

The political bureau of the party gathered on Tuesday night and will submit the decision of quitting the government for endorsement to the party's central committee, which was scheduled to meet on Friday, PPS said in a statement.

PPS is a part of a coalition government with five other parties let by the Islamist Justice and Development Party.

"The PPS has noted with regret that the government remains, since its inauguration, trapped in a management logic that lacks any political inspiration," the statement said.

A negative climate of misunderstanding has marked relations of the components of the government, it said, adding that these relations are marked by "unacceptable political practices."

Moroccan Prime Minister Saad Eddine El Othmani started negotiations for an upcoming government's reshuffle expected in early October.

One possible outcome for the coming reshuffle is a slimmed-down government with fewer ministers.

PPS noted in the statement that these consultations are part of a logic of assigning ministerial portfolios, without getting into the heart of the subject.

There cannot be any reform without a clear political vision, an ambitious governmental program and voluntarism in the conduct of the reform, it added.
