国内英语资讯:Senior lawmakers study CPCs historic mission in new era

BEIJING, July 10 -- The leading Party members group of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee on Wednesday wrapped up a three-day meeting dedicated to studying the historic mission of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in the new era.

Li Zhanshu, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee and head of its leading Party members group, presided over the meeting.

Realizing the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation is the CPC's inherent historic mission, which has been incorporated into all its efforts, says a statement released after the meeting.

It notes that the NPC and its standing committee shoulder important responsibilities in the Party's great practice of leading the people in governing the country and realizing its historic mission.

The NPC and its standing committee should exercise their powers of legislation and oversight in accordance with law to make due contributions to the realization of the Party's historic mission in the new era, according to the statement.

It also called for efforts to whole-heartedly accomplish major tasks given by the CPC Central Committee and continue to enhance the quality of the NPC work.
