资讯集团分拆前夜调整高层人事

Rupert Murdoch has unveiled senior management appointments across his media empire as he prepares to split News Corpinto two separate divisions next year.

鲁珀特·默多克(Rupert Murdoch)公布了旗下媒体帝国的高级管理层人选，计划于明年将资讯集团(News Corp)分拆为两个单独的业务公司。

The reshuffle sees Robert Thomson, managing editor of the Wall Street Journal and a close confidant of Mr Murdoch, take over as chief executive of a new publishing company to be called News Corp, which will incorporate television and digital interests as well as newspapers in the US, UK and Australia.

在此次人事调整中，《华尔街日报》(Wall Street Journal)执行主编罗伯特·汤姆森(Robert Thomson)将出任即将成立的出版公司的首席执行官，新公司将沿用“资讯集团(News Corp)的名称，囊括集团目前在美国、英国以及澳大利亚三地的电视、数字媒体以及报纸业务。汤姆森是默多克的心腹密友。

Mr Murdoch will serve as chairman and chief executive of Fox Group, the new media and entertainment arm. James Murdoch, who is taking an increasingly prominent role in News Corp’s US television interests, will continue as deputy chief operating officer.

默多克将担任即将成立的媒体与娱乐公司福克斯集团(Fox Group)的董事长兼首席执行官；詹姆斯·默多克(James Murdoch)则将继续担任副首席运营官，目前他在资讯集团的美国电视业务领域正扮演着愈发重要的角色。

Following this appointment, Tom Mockridge, chief executive of News Internationaland a News Corp veteran of 22 years, will be leaving the company at the end of the year. He resigned unexpectedly as chief executive of the UK newspaper arm after being passed over for the chief executive position at the publishing company.

与此同时，资讯集团英国报纸业务部门资讯国际(News International)的首席执行官汤姆·默克里奇(Tom Mockridge)将于今年年底离职，此前他已在资讯集团工作了22年。他的意外辞职或与未被任命为新成立的出版公司首席执行官有关。

He will be replaced by Mike Darcey, chief operating officer at satellite broadcaster British Sky Broadcasting, who takes the helm of Mr Murdoch’s UK newspapers including the Times and the Sunday Times.

News Corp also announced that it was to cease publication of the Daily, its lossmaking iPad-only newspaper launched in 2011. Mr Murdoch said: “We could not find a large enough audience quickly enough to convince us the business model was sustainable in the long term.

The Daily brand would live on in some other operations, the company said, with some staff folded into the New York Post, the US newspaper.

Mr Mockridge, a New Zealander, started in News Corp’s Australian newspapers and ran its Sky Italiapay-television business before being sent to stabilise News International’s Wapping headquarters after the phone-hacking scandal.

Gerard Baker, deputy managing editor of the Wall Street Journal, has been named managing editor of the newspaper as well as editor-in-chief of Dow Jones Newswires, succeeding Mr Thomson.

News Corp is expected to file financial details regarding the split by the end of the year.
