PRAGUE, April 22 -- Czech President Milos Zeman sent a telegram to Volodymyr Zelensky on Monday, congratulating his victory in the Ukrainian presidential election.
He also invited Zelensky for an official visit to the Czech Republic.
"Your fellow citizens have confirmed that they did not give up their ambitions to build a democratic, free, prosperous and peaceful Ukraine," Zeman said in the telegram.
It will ask for really transparent governance and improvement in the life of each individual through the continuation of deep structural reforms, it said.
Zeman assured Zelensky that the Czech Republic would help the Ukrainian reform efforts and support Ukraine's European course.
"I will personally do this because I am greatly interested in the positive development of Ukraine and deepening of relations between our two countries in all spheres," he added.
According to the early official results, Ukrainian actor Volodymyr Zelensky won the country's presidential election after defeating incumbent President Petro Poroshenko in the runoff.
Zelensky is expected to take office no later than June 3.
