国内英语资讯:National rejuvenation is the common aspiration across Strait: James Soong Chu-yu

SHENZHEN, April 29 -- The People First Party (PFP) opposes "Taiwan independence," and the two sides across the Taiwan Strait have the common aspiration to realize the national rejuvenation, said PFP Chairman James Soong Chu-yu from Taiwan.

Soong made the remarks during his recent visit to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

"In Dongguan and Shenzhen, I found that the Chinese mainland not only offers funds and jobs for young people from Taiwan to start their businesses, but helps them adapt to the (mainland) society as well, from which I felt the sincerity from the mainland," Soong said.

Soong stressed that the mainland and Taiwan were a family, and people from both sides of the Strait should know about the sincerity and goodwill of each other.

Soong endorsed the idea that representatives from political parties and all walks of life across the Taiwan Strait should have extensive and thorough democratic consultation on the political foundation of upholding the 1992 Consensus and opposing "Taiwan independence."

"The position of PFP is clear that we insist both sides across the Strait belong to one China, and the pursuit for a reunified China is the shared responsibility of all Chinese," he said.
