SHENZHEN, May 18 -- A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) called for promoting integrated development of culture and tourism in a broader scope, with a higher standard and in a more profound manner.

Huang Kunming, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks when he addressed a workshop on integrated development of culture and tourism in Shenzhen of south China's Guangdong Province Saturday.

Integrated development of culture and tourism in a new era has a bright prospect, Huang said, calling for efforts to manifest unique charms of the Chinese culture, make fine traditional Chinese culture alive, and pass on traditions of revolution.

He also asked for developing cultural tourism in rural areas, as well as deepening cooperation on culture and tourism between China and foreign countries.

Prior to the workshop, Huang inspected the 15th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair.
