TOKYO, March 6 -- Tokyo stocks opened lower Wednesday as investor sentiment was dampened by U.S. shares retreating overnight.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 115.00 points, or 0.53 percent, from Tuesday to 21,611.28.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 5.16 points, or 0.32 percent, to 1,614.07.
Glass and ceramics product, machinery and rubber product-linked issues comprised those that declined the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
