美中外交与安全对话将于周五举行

The United States and China will hold the top-level diplomatic and security dialogue that was supposed to be held in Beijing in October in Washington on Friday, the U.S. State Department said.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Defense Secretary Jim Mattis, Chinese politburo member Yang Jiechi and Defense Minister Wei Fenghe will take part in the talks, a statement issued on Monday said.

China said last month the two sides had initially agreed "in principle" to hold the second round of diplomatic security talks in October but they were postponed at Washington's request amid rising tensions over trade, Taiwan and the South China Sea.

Mattis had been due to hold talks with Wei in Beijing in October, but those plans were up-ended after Washington imposed sanctions on China's People's Liberation Army for buying weapons from Russia.

Mattis did meet Wei in Singapore on Oct. 18 and told him that the world's two largest economies needed to deepen high-level ties to reduce the risk of conflict.

美国国务院表示，原本定于10月在北京举行的美中高层外交与安全对话将于周五在华盛顿举行。

一份周一发表声明说，美国国务卿彭佩奥、国防部长马蒂斯、中国政治局委员杨洁篪和国防部长魏凤和上将参加会谈。

中国上个月表示，双方最初“原则上”同意在10月份举行第二轮外交与安全会谈，但在贸易分歧、台湾问题和南海紧张局势升级的情况下，会谈由于华盛顿的要求而被推迟。

美国防长马蒂斯原定于10月份在北京与魏凤和举行会谈，但华盛顿因中国军方从俄罗斯购买武器而对人民解放军实施制裁，导致这一计划被调整。

马蒂斯于10月18日在新加坡与魏凤和见面并对他表示，世界上两个最大的经济体需要深化高层关系，以减少发生冲突的风险。
