3月16日，国家能源局在北京对外发布了业界期待许久的《页岩气发展规划请看《中国日报》的报道：

China has set a goal of producing 6.5 billion cubic meters of shale gas a year by the end of 2017 as part of a five-year plan to increase the country's capacity to tap the unconventional resource, China's top energy authority said on Friday.

为提升非常规资源的开采能力，国家能源局正式发布《页岩气发展规划(2011—2017年)》，提出到2017年，国内页岩气产量将达65亿立方米/年。
