京昆高速“连环相撞”致17人死亡

11月21日9时左右，京昆高速平阳段太原方向65KM+500M处，37辆车发生连环相撞，造成4人当场遇难，40人受伤入院。根据最新的官方通报，目前现场救援已经结束，事故造成17人遇难、37人受伤、56辆机动车不同程度受损。

11月21日，京昆高速山西省境内路段发生56辆车连环相撞事故，导致17人死亡，37人受伤。

The injured people are in stable condition after treatment, according to local authorities on Tuesday morning.

当地政府部门22日早晨表示，伤者经过治疗后情况均已稳定。

Investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.

事故原因正在调查当中。

普通的“车辆相撞”在英语中可以用car collision表示，如果是好几辆车“连环相撞”则会用pile up表示，名词形式为pileup，比如，这则资讯当中既用了动词形式“56 vehicles piled up on a Beijing-Kunming expressway”，也在标题中用到了名词形式“17 killed, 37 injured in N China pileup”。我们知道pile up原本的意思是“堆积”，在这里形容连环相撞的事故场面也的确很形象。

此外，crash也常用来表示“撞车”，但这里不一定是两车相撞，也可能是车辆撞到了别的物体上导致事故发生。所以，car crash包含的意义比car collision要广一些。另外，“飞机失事”也用plane crash来表示。
