How fit are your teeth? Are you lazy about brushing them? Never fear: An inventor is on the case. An electric toothbrush senses how long and how well you brush, and it lets you track your performance on your phone.

The Kolibree toothbrush was exhibited at the International Consumer Electronics Show in LasVegas this week. It senses how it is moved and can send the information to an Android phone or iPhone via a Bluetooth wireless connection.

The toothbrush will be able to teach you to brush right (don't forget the insides of the teeth!)and make sure you're brushing long enough. “It's kind of like having a dentist actually watch your brushing on a daytoday basis,” says Thomas Serval, the French inventor.

The toothbrush will also be able to talk to other applications on you phone, so developers could, for instance, create a game controlled by your toothbrush. You could score points for beating monsters among your teeth. “We try to make it smart but also fun,”Serval says.

Serval says he was inspired by his experience as a father. He would come home from work and ask his kids if they had brushed their teeth. They said “yes,” but Serval would find their toothbrush heads dry. He decided he needed a brush that really told him how well his children brushed.

The company says the Kolibree will go on sale this summer, for $ 99 to $ 199, depending on features. The U.S. is the first target market.

Serval says that one day, it'll be possible to replace the brush on the handle with a brushing unit that also has a camera. The camera can even examine holes in your teeth while you brush.

C.You can brush with the Kolibree as if guided by a dentist.

Although different universities in the US have different admissions policies, most determine admission based on several standards, including a student's high school course of study, high school Grade Point Average (GPA), participation in activities, SAT or ACT exam scores, a written essay, and possibly a personal interview.

The university admissions office considers whether a student has taken courses in high school that have prepared him or her for more difficult coursework. A student's high school GPA is also considered. __1__ Each letter grade is assigned a number of points: A=4 points, B=3, C=2, D=1 and F=0 point. A GPA is calculated by adding all of the points earned for each course grade and dividing the total points by the total number of courses taken. __2__

Universities prefer to see applications from high school students who have engaged in activities in their spare time, such as clubs, athletic teams and student government. __3__ Most students in the US take the SAT Reasoning Test or the ACT during their final year of high school. Each university sets a minimum SAT or ACT score that a student must achieve in order to be admitted. These are standardized quantitative examinations. The SAT tests critical reading, math and writing skills. __4__

Students are often required to write an essay as part of the application process. __5__ The applicants may also be required to have a personal interview with a representative from the admissions office.

A.A student who fails a required course must repeat the course.

B.A GPA is a figure representing a student's accumulated grades.

C.Each admissions office determines the length and content of the essay.

D.For example, a GPA of 3.0 is a “B” average for all of the courses taken.

E.A student graduates after he or she has successfully passed all the required courses.

F.The ACT tests English, math, reading, science reasoning and optional writing.

G.Voluntary participation in these activities shows students have learned valuable life lessons.

Sarah:What can you refer to if you want to know how tall the tallest person in the world is?

  __1__

is only one place, where you will find the information. And that's the Guinness Book of World Records. This morning we have someone from the Guinness Company that produced that famous book,

  Tomas

  Manning. __2__ to the

  program, Tomas!

Tomas:Thanks, Sarah. It's a pleasure to be here.

Sarah:Perhaps you could start by telling us where the idea for the book came from?

Tomas:Well, it was first suggested in the early

1950s. Sir Hugh Beaver, the managing director

of Guinness, was out shooting birds with some friends. A bird __3__(fly)

  away so

quickly that no one was able to shoot it. Sir Hugh wondered whether this bird was the

fastest bird in Europe. And it wasn't the fastest. He wondered __4__ it was.

Sarah:So I suppose he went to the

  __5__(near)

library to look for the information and he couldn't find it.

  Tomas:Yeah,

  that's

  exactly what

happened. And this made Sir Hugh

  think

there __6__ be other people in the same

situation who wanted this kind of information. He thought that, like __7__, people would be interested in finding facts about the records to satisfy their __8__(curious).

Sarah:So __9__ idea for a book of records was born. And when did the first book come out?

  Tomas:A few years later, in

  1955. So __10__(answer)

  your question: the

  tallest

  person

in the world is 231.7cm tall.

there be句型表示“有”。

  4.what wonder后接宾语从句,从句中was缺少表语,所以填what。

  8.curiosity satisfy one's curiosity“满足某人的好奇心”。

  10.to answer

  Dear Wu Dong,

Hope you are well.I'm very excited because I've applied for holiday job, teach Chinese conversation in a Senior Student Training Center near Banqkok.I am a bit of worried because I

don't know that I should take some presents for the teachers or not.Should I shake hand when I meet people, and just smile? What topics will the students want to talk about? Might you say or do

something that will seem rude? This may seem unimportance to you, but I want to plan nothing in advance. So I'd love to know what you think. After all:you had been to Thailand but I haven't.
