MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) Students at Horry Georgetown Technical College are doing mock(模拟) interviews to get them ready for the real world.
They are learning about body language, as well as what to say, when it comes to finding a job.
Job trainers said when a person walks through the door for an interview he or she has about seven seconds to make a good first impression.
April Garner at Horry Georgetown Technical College said nonverbal skills are essential in getting a job.
She said, “Eye contact is very important. Eye contact can convey whether or not you are sincere or honest about a particular answer.”
Garner explained what you do with your hands can tell an employer a lot about a person. “Do not cross your arms. Crossing your arms can convey that you are unapproachable. Twisting of the hair conveys nervousness. ”
She said using small gestures is okay, but just don't overdo it.
“People talk with their hands and their arms and they are waving them around like they are bringing in airplanes,” commented Garner.
Before you even open your mouth an employer can judge on looks alone.
So dress for success, give a firm handshake and get to your interview early so you can have time to calm any nerves.
Also, a person trying to get a job can try breathing techniques before your interview. This helps a person relax and lower your blood pressure.
Garner said people don't realize how controlling your breathing also stops you from blushing or appearing nervous.

Every person has a different type of personality and talent. Thus every person is highly skilled in some or the other task. A particular post or a career is well suited for a person of a specific personality. The ancient Greeks classified the temperaments of the people into four principle categories which are Sanguine (多血质), Choleric (胆汁质), Melancholic (抑郁质), and Phlegmatic (粘液质). These four personalities suit certain types of careers and jobs. Thus it is always advisable to have an ability test and personality test done at once. The personality test will give you a set of careers, which suit your personality. The ability test on the other hand will help you to shorten list of careers that match your skills. Let's have a closer look.

What happens when the children leave to start new lives at university? Joanna Moorhead talks to some emptynesters.
When Paul, our oldest, left, I remember feeling this terribley sad: it was a physical sadness, almost like walking around with a hangover. It seemed to me like the very opposite of childbirth: that had been about being given someone, my baby, whereas this was a pain, my child being taken away from me. For days the grief was very, very raw; I cried a lot of the time for the first day or two after he left. And that helped a lot, because I needed to feel sad, I needed to grieve for what I was losing.
It didn't get any easier when Adam and then Alice went, either; I remember Alice leaving to go InterRailing, and that was really the start of Tom and I having the house to ourselves; and for several days after she'd gone I wandered around in a bit of daze(头晕), I felt so sad. It felt such a shock, to be suddenly disconnected from this person with whom you've been so involved, whom you've looked after for so long.
Each time one of them has left, I've tried hard not to cry at the moment of parting, but usually I don't manage it. The children have all been really sweet about it—they do understand, at some level, how hard it is for me. But the thing is that the experience they're having is the complete opposite to the experience I'm having: for them, leaving home is all about excitement and adventure and something new, whereas for me it's all about being worried and anxious and feeling that my life isn't nearly so exciting or interesting now; they're not around in it the whole time.

写作一
As can be seen in the picture,a boy is rowing a boat trapped in a bottle floating on the surface of the sea.It seems that he won't row his boat any further though he is making great efforts.
The picture intends to convey the message that we shouldn't be stubborn to our own ideas when we are trying to reach our goals. In our daily life,we may meet with kinds of problems. We need to find different solutions to them.If we always stand by our opinions,we may get half the results with double the effort.Just like the boy in the picture,no matter how hard he is rowing,he will never row the trapped boat out of the bottle.
In my opinion, only by opening our minds, can we solve the problems and reach our goals.

I've received your email and know that you are in a bad mood now. However,I don't think it is necessary for you to be so disappointed for failing twice. You see,we still face many more exams in the future even if we leave school. So try the following:
Collect the mistakes you made in the exams and in the exercises you did before, and analyze them carefully.Try to avoid making them again in the next exam.Make good preparations and be confident.
As we all know, failure is the mother of success.Let every failure be your stepping stone. If you try your best and don't give up,you are sure to succeed in time.
Best_wishes_and_good_luck!
Yours,
Jay
